Look at the Georgia Guidestones. The man who funded it went by "R.C. Christian". The supposed founder of Rosicrucianism (allegory) was Christian Rosenkruetz/Rosenkruez/Rosencruetz. Then you add the fact that the man who owned the land it was built on was a Rosicrucian. There's a lot of "solve et coagula" going on in those Guidestones lol.

Yeah. I read about Berman being on Sgt Peppers cover and my jaw dropped. I wonder now if the Beatles were friends with Berman. That could explain Charlie's fixation with them, and the use of Beatles titles that wasn't out yet at the time. An example would be Susan Atkins was called Sexy Sadie before the Beatles came out with an album with that same song title. I was looking into it last night and couldn’t nail anything down. Robert Fraser, Peter Blake and Jann Haworth provided ideas for the cut outs in addition to the Beatles.

The whole laurel canyon and hippie scene seems to have been one giant experiment... After a while it's hard to deny the pattern that has emerged. I haven't worked out my grand theory but I do think you're onto something.

I think when you add McGwans weird scenes book with Tom O'neills Chaos it pretty much sums up the state of California during that time. I was reading old news articles from the 80s awhile back and came across the revelation that Ronald Reagan made propaganda films during WW2 at a "secret government" film studio near Los Angeles. I believe it to be lookout mountain, but of coarse I have no proof unless we were to know 100% that lookout mountain was the only such studio.

RKO was pretty heavily involved in making propaganda and training films (Merian Cooper, who produced King Kong, was a war hero aviator and "spy in the sky" who worked closely with Chennault and the company that became Air America) and also did the first experiments in "subliminal messaging," etc, in motion pictures. Remember the brainwashing scene in Clockwork Orange, where Alex is strapped in a chair and given drugs while he watches certain films? That kind of stuff.

She designed the rainbow jacket in Lucifer Rising, btw.
And it occurred to me later that no matter who suggested Wallace Berman, that's quite a coup for a relatively unknown artist.

Michael Mountain/Hugh Mountain/Hugh Bernstein was one of the founders of the Process. The infamous Sidney Bernstein was a close relation of his. He owned and operated Granada TV in the UK, made propaganda films during WW2, and was part of some NATO round table group. He was also in constant contact with MI6.

Miles Copeland wrote a very interesting book in 1989. It's been so long since I read it. I looked online to get a copy, and prices are ridiculous

Oh, I think it's crystal clear that Hubbard recruited Marjorie and sicced her on Jack Parsons deliberately. They apparently fell in love more or less for real, but remember, Marjorie was deeply, deeply nuts. The story about it all being by chance is horseshit. Parsons apparently believed it was, but that doesn't mean it was. Nothing involving Hubbard happened by chance, nor was it reported truthfully. Hubbard was the greatest con artist and pimp of them all. Along with McMurtry, Talbot Smith, and Aquino, Jack Parsons really believed in Magick. They never caught on that Crowley and Hubbard were just grifters. Crowley wasn't even in Hubbard's league. He was more in Hitler's league as a monomaniacal, manipulative sociopath, except Hubbard was much more intelligent than Hitler. Great work Professor (and everyone else) on digging into the background on these cults and their connections to intelligence agencies and other sketchy things. I created a pretty detailed timeline of Marjorie Cameron' life through World War II, with a few later dates. It is available here in a Word document, and you can reach all the records (mostly newspaper articles) through links in the document. I meant to do a bit of a write-up on what I think is significant in the timeline, bit if I wait to do that, I'll never get around to it. Hopefully, it will help solidify what we can nail down about her life. Best, Max

Sorry, folks, I am not coming up with a whole hell of a lot of anything. I’ll dig harder.

Well, ace, that alone might tell us a little something. And Max's timeline IS detailed!

Very interesting! I couldn't find much on Julia MacDonald in the New York Times archives, other than the two articles attached. Doesn't seem to tell much other than that Julia Lee MacDonad was wealthy. Best, Max Interesting article just for the fact that Julie MacDonald was roommates with Marjorie and The Children stressed interracial relationships.
Of note:
Any Children-specific shenanigans ever happen at Zorthian Ranch, I wonder?
Also interesting: Jirayr Zorthian's " Phantasmagoria of Military Intelligence Training" was a mural he produced which was placed in the Pentagon during WW2. Full mural can be seen and enlarged at the bottom of this page.
