Just thinking with the sleeper hold on Dana theory, the killer/s could’ve been someone from the boys Judo class, students or instructors.
Not trying to implicate Gamberg or Hagwood (but come on, one does have to wonder)
Hagwood has openly said he knew both boys at the time
Gamberg being previously fired from the Plumas County police twice prior to the murders and the suspicion that Dana was a snitch it plays in my mind (maybe I’m pushing too far)
judo class members. Have any of those, ever been interviewed? Could they have any knowledge of what happened? I know they were teenagers, but many people say it looks like amateur kids did this. Could Tina had gone off with really cute boy she had a crush on at the time? There is speculation, both her and Shiela had a crush on Dana, what’s to say she didn’t have a crush on any other friends of Johnny’s? It also comes back to the Johnny inviting friends back and Sue going to bed theory.

I'm right there with you on all those thoughts Mew! It would be helpful to know others that took those judo lessons. Unfortunately, there is no mention of these lessons in any of the files (that I am aware of). The only mention of the Judo lessons came from Gamberg himself & was unknown until he volunteered the info. Perhaps we can find some info through the FRB, others that were involved in Judo, wrestling, etc??
I also believe that is a possibility in regards to Tina. I do not believe Sheila "sent Tina home to her death" that night. But rather, Tina chose to not spend the night at the Seabolts herself, knowing that at least Dana would be spending the night at 28. With all that was going on in Keddie that night there is the possiblity others stopped by the cabin that night.
It's also possible Tina had plans to meet up with someone. So little is known about Tina, but the bits & pieces out there do, unfortunately, paint the picture of a little girl in trouble. IMO John Douglas' profile is too quickly dismissed. No way he was "fed false information", as his profile is based off of the crime scene, victimology, etc. PCSO had some reason to wonder what Tina's role was. Under normal circumstances kidnapping would be the initial thought, but something about this case was different.

Great thoughts Mew!! For some reason I'd just assumed J&D got a few random, private lessons in gambergs home, I hadn't thought of an actual "class" with other kids! Was Gamberg ever officially questioned about the nature of these lessons and exact relationship with J&D?!! Not that I'm aware of, and now I'm wondering wtf not? WHEN did gamberg first divulge their relationship?! As I remember Admin Horan pointing out,not only was Mike G not on the force at the time professionally, he was also persona non grata as a concerned "friend of the family" while so many others were helping however they could.

At first I thought one on one lessons too, but then I remembered my karate lessons as a kid and my sisters dance lessons. They had to have at least 10 participants for the classes to go ahead otherwise it wasn’t worth funding. I don’t know if it happened that way in the 1980s

Al Molina keeps coming up as the local martial arts and self defense instructor, 79-81. September 1980: It appears several recreational classes were offered throughout the years but no rosters of students & Molina shows up as the instructor each time. Wrestling rosters are throughout the FRB but no names that stand out, perhaps one or two of the Lee brothers/relatives but not the ones mentioned in the case. Gamberg did teach an adult class in 1975: FRB June 27, 1984

Thanks hope! Thinking about it last night, it seems to me gamberg himself said he gave a few private lessons to the boys at his house. IIRC that got us talking about gamberg being the "cool" cop that had a way with kids....and him being the guy with all the CI's..

That's was take on it too snoho. Whatever lessons he offered were on more of a personal level. I always assumed they took place in his house vs. a martial arts class he may, or may not, have taught.
