Since we do not have access to Ricky Sharp's interview(s) with authorities, I wanted to share what he says in the Cabin 28 Tour video while they are in his and his brother's bedroom after the 4:10 mark.
I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on what he said.
Either he knew there was blood on the door handle from personal experience or he read it in the timeline. Either way, I don’t see any reason to not believe him.
They all also talk about the case as if they know for fact that Marty and Bo did it (keep in mind Sheila, and possibly her brothers, have read the whole timeline and definitely know more than we would).
In the whole walk through he seems very uncomfortable (rightfully so, given that’s where half his family was murdered) and also he has said multiple times he doesn’t want to be involved in the videos, never really gave any interviews, never participated in forums, nothing.
Yes they definitely talk like they know Marty committed these murders. Here's the problem - if Justin was going in and out of the bedroom (and I think it's pretty safe to say he did for whatever reason) then Ricky knows that Justin was going in and out - so he was not asleep (which would seem farfetched anyway). If Ricky and Greg were in the closet then something scared them enough to get into the closet - yet they say they slept through the murders. They haven't said, "We don't know what happened because Justin or Marty told us to get into the closet (and certainly they would have known Marty's voice since Ricky probably hung around Justin's house just like Tina did). According to Justin's hypnosis Ricky was playing with him the day after the murders so it doesn't appear Ricky was scared of Justin or Marty. The fact is, as far as we know based on the case not being closed, that Ricky has continued to say he slept through all of this. Now it's been said before they could have been drugged but once again they would have to remember being given something by someone to drink before bed that made them sleepy. Anything is possible but it certainly doesn't seem probable that they slept through those murders with Justin coming down off the bunk bed and looking or going in and out of the bedroom the cabin was just too tiny.
There is absolutely no doubt this was an unbelievably tragic event and very easy for the brain to choose to shut down but were rocking on 39 years here and still no answers. Certainly they have had time to do more dna testing - it seems the cabinet door would be a great place to start. If they have had any new leads I find it hard to believe that they would have let Mike G go. If it's Marty, and that's what the boys say and that's what the evidence says, then close this case! Marty Smartt and Marilyn Musgrove did not have to die for the truth to come out.
I believe there was a flood in Quincy/ the sheriffs office where most of the evidence was held and a lot of it got destroyed. Mostly the cut outs of the walls and carpets and stuff. This was a while ago
Rick’s statement is 100% conjecture on his part. If Justin ID Marty and Rick could ID Marty’s voice telling Justin to get back into the room, then, Kmik, I agree with you... officially close the case! Now if there was blood on the back of the door I guess it might be safe to assume it was there because someone attempted to close the door... were LE that unlucky that there were no fingerprints there?
I didn't hear anything about being shot either. Kay, I don't know about a flood but I believe one of the freezers got accidentally unplug after some storm and froze over but honestly I don't know how long it was unplugged or how bad that would destroy DNA and DNA seems to be able to withstand alot. I think one of the articles years ago said they still had a lot of evidence.
28 reported awhile back that Mike G was no longer working as special investigator due to lack of funds but was still working the case on his own time. Don't know if there's any truth to any of that but I do know PCSO has a new sheriff because Greg Hagwood resigned as sheriff to run for county commissioner.
Apologies about my incorrect earlier entry. I was referring to the end of the video. I thought I heard Rick say, "That's where I was shot". He actually says, "Where's our stuff?"
At 4:10 they are discussing the closet door... "In the timeline they specified that door was closed, (referring to the closet door in the boys bedroom), and this one was open; propped open. "Justin thinks he hid behind it....according to the timeline. Rick says, "Well, there was blood on the handle." He touches the inside door knob of the boys bedroom entry door. Rick speculates about Marty telling Justin to come back to the bedroom. There is a definite separation in their body language and tone when talking about factual things, like the door, etc. and when they propose Marty's involvement. They almost give a look to acknowledge what is or about to be said. I don't think they are lying about all the facts, but maybe they make sure they put Marty's name in place of someone elses? Just a thought.
I did want to mention that I developed a seizure disorder during my pregnancies and was prescribed phenobarbital. I find in interesting that Justin said he was dreaming, but perhaps actually witness the murders. I often found myself being in a half awake, half sleep when taking this medication. I was in a state of sleep where I would incorporate background television or radio noise, or even people talking into my dream state. Is it possible he did take some of Bo's medicine and that's why his memory is blurred? He may have given the other two boys some also. It would have most likely put the younger boy to sleep right away, but probably not Rick. It may also explain why he was actually able to go back to sleep after such a tramatic event.
TT, anything is possible since we don't know what happened. But I'd like to think if the boys took some pills they would remember that they were given a pill to take. My take on Marty's statement of keeping the medicine put up because of the kids is a pretty common thing that most adults do for safety reasons and not because he thought Justin was in the habit of stealing medicine.
I think Justin chose to weave a dream into reality because he first claimed to have slept through the murders.
