Knowledge of Camp 18 would be a must. More info on Steve H would be nice to know but from Mrs. Alvey's statement he was in Quincy the night of the murders. Here is something else interesting:
From the PON list:
This is interesting to me because Scott and Steve were both arrested in 1975 for selling marijuana. Steve was listed as 18yr.old and a student at Greenville High. Scott was listed as 18yr. old and from Quincy. The surely knew each other. And here is Scott supposedly at this "acid party" in MV. The "acid" party nobody admitted to being at - then you got this "Steve" who supposedly claimed to have been walking around Keddie high on acid. Now we've got the acid party probably being at Chuck's place in Keddie instead of his stepbrother Roger's in MV.

My one takeaway from reading years of posts is people get some funny ideas about what its like living in the "boonies". I do agree with the dude about the drug culture. Its usually locals who make runs to bigger towns. Some make a few extra bucks, and most deal to support their own habits. Though nott big time cartel members, dime dealers will get violent over small amounts..Especially if they're working off "fronts". Snd As soon as someone gets a license, they're apt to spend ALOT of time cruising logging, dnr, and fire service roads. Many weekends spent exploring the back forty on dirt bikes, target shooting, rock hounding, mushroom hunting ect. You may run into some odd characters for sure! I won't rule em out, but alot of the personal connections could easily be coincidental. I know of a few spots in my area that have been used as body dump sites by multiple killers. Besides a few unsolveds, most of them were definitely unconnected, even though a few of the victims could be connected together! Mollath did jump out at me,but can't say i can see any real concrete connection.

True Snoho and Mollath never jumped out at me either other than Meanie sharing his connection to Steve H. - but Steve does jump out to me and it's completely because of Mrs. Alvey's statement of the way he acted on the morning of the murders. If she would have told the story at the time of the murders then LE could have ruled him in or out but she didn't - and she didn't because he was a family friend and/or because she was scared to.
Richard - know it all- Meeks had to have told the story of a "Steve" walking around on acid in 1981 and he said (acid party) Chuck was the one who told him - but the story Mrs. Alvey told would not come to light until years later - which is one thing this case was missing: Major information at the time of the murders (whether relevant or not) for LE to sort out for themselves.

My 8 ball says no on Mollath. He was the resort owner. Why would he foul his own water? Crime of this type is way too risky, too pointless. By that I mean, it is a means to an end, but to what end? Gotta think that one thru really thoroughly.
If he is bent like the kind of guy who would premeditate walking into Sue's cabin and bludgeoning and stabbing her and 3 youths to death, then he would take it elsewhere. He would do like others do, and find strangers at other venues and become the "purple lampshade killer" or the "black masked killer," "the sushi bar killer" or whatever signature he adopts ....
Does Mollath have a history of violence and antisocial behavior? Possibly dating back to childhood? Any criminal record? How many marriages? Is there clear evidence that he murdered his family member or is this just speculation?
Etc. Etc.
I am saying that behavior falls into a pattern. People don't own and run rental properties by day and brutally murder their tenents and their offspring, by night. Unless, of course, it fits into a larger pattern of behavior.

I’m new, but is Scott Forcino kin to investigator Dennis Forcino? If Steve H was staying with Forcinos on 4/11 at the park on 1200 Pioneer Rd, that’s very close to Jackie’s place on Manzanita.

Unless, of course, it fits into a larger pattern of behavior. by all accounts, Gary was not the most ambitious of “landlords.” He was appointed to the job (at 24?) by his parents and let the Albins run the thing. Not sure he was focused on much of anything much less restoring keddie to its former glory.

My hunch is probably not. For lack of motive.

We have no evidence (as of now) that anyone besides the victims and the 3 small boys were in that house that night. In all this "new" information that has been put on dmac's facebook page it still has not brought to light a match to anyone else. We do know that Sheila Sharp's fingerprint is on the light bulb, but that doesn't make her a murderer, or does it? Who knows. Don Stoy said in 1994, "despite the 200 pieces of evidence we have, we have been unable to positively link them to any suspects." And that evidence has since been rechecked. In another article (which i could not find quickly) it is said the blood matched the victims with the exception of some that were (?) untestable (i will look that back up).
Anyway, we have no evidence that we have seen pointing to anyone. But someone else had to have been involved, no matter what your theory is.
Gary Mollath's sister Lynette owned Keddie until her murder in 1978 in Piedmont, Ca. According to the FRB on July 23, 1980 Gary petitioned the court for administrator of her estate.
Gary was looked into because he, like Steve, had a sister that was murdered.
From the Keddie files:
Investigators [name withheld] and I went to the Piedmont Police Department and met with Det. [name withheld] regarding a similar homicide that occurred in their city in 1978. The victim, Lynette M., is the sister of Gary M. who currently owns the Keddie Resort. There were several similarities in the way that the victim died and the way that Glen [sic], John and Dana died.
The Piedmont Police Department case file indicates that the victim lived in her parent's house with her parents and her brother Gary. The parents were out of town. Gary was the last person to see the victim alive and the person who discovered her body. It appears that Gary left her at home and had gone to have lunch with some other relatives. Gary had left the residence at around noon and when he returned at around 1700 hours he discovered the body. The crime scene photos indicate that the victim's nude body was lying at the foot of a staircase with her throat cut. She also had several stab wounds to the upper chest and some bruising about the neck. Her body was lying on a curtain that had been torn down from the window but she was not bound. I reviewed the ME report and found that the wound to her throat was much wider and deeper than the wound to Glena's [sic] throat. The location, however, was almost identical. The report also indicated that there was no evidence of sexual assault.
The scene that the M. residence had evidence of ransacking but nothing was missing. The investigators believed that a burglary was staged by the suspect(s) with no signs of forced entry. The victim had a large dog that was said to be protective and not stranger friendly. The dog had no injuries or any other indicators that it may have been involved in protecting her owner during the attack or protecting the residence during the ransacking. The weapon used to murder the victim was a butcher knife that had been taken from the kitchen but had been washed by the suspect(s) and left in the dish drainer by the kitchen sink.
I also learned that she was a graduate of Quincy High School. After the graduation her father moved her back to Piedmont to get her out of that environment. After moving back to Piedmont, the victim was reported to be a quiet modest girl that didn't go out much.
After reviewing the case in Piedmont we determined there could be a link between our case and theirs. The Piedmont investigators and I agree that we need to establish the common denominator between the two cases. Piedmont has requested a list of names from our case to see if anyone from our area has had any contact with their agency or any dealings with the victim's family. Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.~~~~~

I was re-reading the Chuck & Henry thread on here (a lot of good info there worth revisiting!) & saw jmo had previously posted another one of Racerkey's posts there (thanks jmo!). Figured I would copy & paste it here to go with the other posts of his/hers. It is quite interesting & discusses the true history of Camp 18 & Feather Falls:
"As a clarification to the True history of Camp 18. Not a Boy Scout camp. Not a Campground. Its relationship to Feather Falls and Camp One. Previous to the town and Mill of Feather Falls, the Hutchinson Lumber Co. was founded in 1922 and logged that entire area of the Sierra first by oxen and skid roads and then by Railway to run the logs to the Hutchinson Mill at Oroville. A network of railways was in place for the transport of the raw logs. The Quincy-La Porte Rd was the old rail-bed for the railway as were many of the road networks above Feather Falls. The town of Feather Falls developed on Lumpkin Ridge as Feather River Pine Mills Inc. circa 1940 after the Hutchinson Mill in Oroville burned down. Earlier, logging was done farther up the mountain and logging camps were established. These tent towns were improved with shacks as the logging spread out and were used as hubs to house and feed the workers. Known as skid towns, because the logs were skidded on skid roads and the cheap shacks were built on skids so they could be moved to the next location. The Main mill was huge at the Feather Falls site. The actual Feather Falls (waterfall, 410' high) is approx 4-7 miles north and the original name of the town of Feather Falls was Mooretown, after its founder John S. Moore. Camp 18 was a logging camp named as such because it was 18 miles by skid road above the mill. Likewise Camp One. As the area became logged-out, Camp 18 was MOVED by skidding the buildings down to the Mill Site of Feather Falls town as well as the buildings of Camp One, mostly simple 2-3 room single-wall but well-built "shacks". These migrated buildings were then reassembled, put on pier foundations, refurbished with yards, interiors, some garages, fencing, and all received the standard coat of barn red on their board and bat exteriors. The interiors were all paneled with knotty pine and shellac. The housing and community for the mill-workers occupied the opposite side of Lumpkin Rd. from the Mill-site. Included at the new company town was a Large rec hall-auditorium, a separate office building for management, a library, Company store, Post office, Gas station with a hoist, Fire station, church, large sports field w a baseball diamond, an apple "test" orchard, laid out gravel streets, and an elementary school that is still operating, a small hospital consisting of a very large house with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, large front room with brick fireplace, and knotty-pine interior paneling throughout, and a large yard. I rented that house for $40 mo. in Jan.1970. My first daughter was born there as a home birth in February. The previous resident was the famous head shop owner Bill Miller, who ran for Mayor of Berkeley in '67, and ran the Steppenwolf Bar on San Pablo. The mill ceased operations in approx '66. It was up for sale by the owner, Georgia-Pacific, later to become Louisiana-Pacific. During my stay there, the mill was being torn down but the town remained and the houses rented for $30-40/mo. The secret was, many Berkeley and Bay-area folks were spilling out into the rural areas at that time and they migrated to many of these small mountain towns such as Feather Falls, Brownsville, and Forbestown. the railway was abandoned and torn out above the new mill site and they became Forest Service roads and used for logging operations by remote crews and the logs transported by trucks down the mountain into Oroville. So, Feather Falls was comprised of the reincarnated Camp 1 and Camp 18 structures, the sites becoming nothing but razed patches after the town was moved down the mountain. That explains the bottle dump, the barren ground referred to as Camp 18, and the reason for the existence of the town of Feather Falls, since bulldozed completely in approx '96. I have returned to the site since and walked atop the old concrete slabs and remaining memories and stood on the old gas station, the store, and phone booth pads. So Camp 18 is not a camp. It is a reference point. A wide spot in the road. No standing bit of history existed there in '70 or today. That is why I questioned the ability of the perps to place the Tina remains there. No one knows anything about it. It is near the FS road that runs up to Little Grass Valley Reservoir(no relation to Grass Valley), Hartmann Bar(no bar), Fall River Crossing, Golden Trout Crossing, and Walters mine. But the connection does exist for the perps I identify as murderers Steven Howard and Gary Mollath because of the La Porte Rd. to Meadow Valley FS Rd. and its turnoff to Feather Falls and its bypass of the old site of Camp 18. Gary Mollath would not know of the area but Steven Howard would due to his knowledge of the back road from La Porte, his dumping of the remains of his sister Kathy along that route, his drug hookup with Mollath at the other end of the La Porte Rd at MV and Quincy to Keddie, their sighting together in Mollath's Green '55 Chevy p.u. in Keddie before the murders, the murders committed by each separately, (Kathy, Lynette) and together (Sharps), both, and therefore, the abduction of Tina Sharp back towards the La Porte Rd., their immediate disappearance from Keddie, and Howard's reported freakout after the news bulletin, rushing out of the house with a previously hidden duffel bag, and therefore to the same dumping ground route over back roads to Camp 18. These are the only two characters that fit the bill. Behold! Camp 18."

A gold Miners body was dumped here also!? Somewhere on here I'd posted that I found a mine claim in the area for pedrini, there used to be alot of talk about exactly what he was doing there. I do believe he could have been claim jumping or prospecting illegally. you don't hear too much on it, but those will still get you in hot water. Even mushroom hunters could do you in if you cross their "boundry". LOL, found the post one page back, face palm! Ronald J Pedrini
Quincy, California 95971
Ronald J Pedrini is a private claimant based in Quincy, California for 4 mining claims—1 is active and 3 are closed. So the bottle collecting story sounded bogus for that paticular area, what about claim jumping?

I don't think there are any mines near Camp 18. But he may have been panning in the Feather River. Perhaps illegally. So, snoho gets a pumpkin sticker. In my previous post, I forgot to mention--Henry Thompson had also worked out there. In the late 70s, the railroad was done hauling timber from that forest, so they tore up the tracks to reuse elsewhere and graded the railroad bed into the road that runs through there now. That was Henry's job. So, BOTH Chuck Walke and Henry Thompson were intimately familiar with that "road." A road never patrolled by the sheriff's office. Only park rangers."

That is interesting about Pedrini having a mining claim in the area. I will look for your post to read, since I admittedly know nothing about gold mining, etc. Here are the articles pertaining to the miner found. It was in 1984. He was from San Jose & would often travel to Hartmann's Bar to mine. His wife reported him missing when he didn't return home. There were very few articles about it.
