I am new to the forum but have been reading a lot of info concerning the Zodiac case from here in England and the puzzles of his ciphers. (Looking at codecs and puzzles is something I enjoy.)
Anyway, to cut to the chase I am interested in finding out a few facts that seem to be missing, to confirm something I see regarding the 340 cipher and its many messages that seem to relay a lot of information. The problem I have is trying to find the 'bulletin board' which commands or let others know how to set the cipher settings for the relevant message to be understood.
So far, I have found about 10 messages just by exploring key words, which does not involve much effort. Some of these messages can be interpreted as:
Private lake nh gold/+doshimakzAn-k.I9+
Rennold kil got help/dmnk.I9+zoakailhs+
Kirtl go aheud pepol/zodiakAk>hs+nm+.I9
ikolth^pepul>rgod/oz.Iai>kn+s9hdk^+

gt rl kop nh involved/ki da z^+ n> oks.I9hm+
etc etc
In amongst all of these different set ups I seem to be reading stories or events, one of which links a watch and J B but this seems to imply that a watch was buried, possibly near a wall or window whilst 'j+s' are things he has kept. In others there seems to be zodiac and others either working together (kane is mentioned along with art, reynolds and various others) and, as far as I can read this stuff, all of the symbols on each setting for the entire 340 characters are used up with none missing. I have read a woman was killed and her body was mentioned as damaged, a boy was pushed off a cliff with'obv' which -when the context is taken into account- may mean obviously. I'm not that much of an expert on Zodiac except what information is on the internet, but what I am reading is telling me stuff that doesn't seem to be in the public domain, and some of it makes for disturbing reading.
I don't know if I am off the beaten track here...but fk me I think the 340 was a means for killers to communicate, and may be still is if the cipher has yet to be busted. The only thing I can see from the SF area which may be a means of delivery are either the newspapers or some kind of intellectual spreadsheet that ran between 1981 to 1995, of which checking the author Gareth Penn brought that gem up- some of the old title posts which have been converted onto the net are not readable and I have felt my skin cringe when I've tried putting some of the names on there through the method I am exploring.
Also, the map above would seem to indicate zodiac's (or the I9 killer in 340 if I am right) hunting ground, with art lee allen conveniently almost in the heart- ironically, the gold lake reference seems to lie north west of lake tahoe, and the cipher mentions 9 with relevance to there.
Well, either I am going nuts or I am onto something here and I can partially read zodiac code. I would value the opinion of you guys who most likely know more about this history than I, and do you think it might be worthwhile sending an email to any relevant law enforcement agencies still interested in this case? Although I may be able to read what I see, I am unsure as to whether I am trying to convince myself (by creating relevancy) or whether it is rightfully relevant without wasting police time.
