Jenny Maxwell was an Hollywood actress that appeared with Elvis Presley in his movie Blue Hawaii. Jenny would marry former LAPD police officer Ervin Roeder a man that became the manager for both his wife Jenny Maxwell as well as actor and Elvis chum "Nick Adams". Roeder would find his client Nick Adams dead at Adam's home in 1968. Jenny Maxwell was also friendly with actress Sharon Tate.
Jenny Maxwell and her husband Ervin Roeder would be shot to death by an unidentified shooter in 1981. In recent times Jenny's cousin "Buddy Moorehouse" would pen a book about the murders laying the blame on Jenny's husband and manager.
Buddy of course shares the same last name as Charles Manson's #2 man Dean Moorehouse and his daughter Ruth Ann Moorehouse. Now Buddy's father Hank Morrehouse is a famous magician and passed away while performing in China. Hank was born in July 1934 which makes he 5-1/2 months older than the future king of rock n roll Elvis Presley. Hank Moorehouse would join the army and he would be stationed in Germany at the same time Elvis Presley was stationed there.
From Wiki about Hank:
Moorehouse became interested in magic in 1947 at the age of 13 when he purchased his first trick from the Mazda Magic Shop in Oak Park, Illinois.
He remained active in conjuring throughout his high school years and started to perform more often while majoring in theater at the University of Illinois.
After college, Moorehouse joined the army and was stationed in Germany. Following his tour of duty, he settled in Orland Park, Illinois, where his involvement in magic was rekindled. He met Ken Diamond and they formed Aladdin Productions. In 1968, they hosted a one-day convention called "The Magic Caravan."
In 1963, the wire company for which he was employed moved him to Michigan to take over the operation of a plant. He opened up a small used magic shop in his home in 1968, and eventually expanded the outfit selling wholesale magic along with selling at numerous conventions. He continued to expand the business until 1974, when he opened a retail store in neighboring Ann Arbor called "The Magic Emporium."
Moorehouse has been affiliated with several magic organizations throughout his career including the Magic Masters Club in Chicago, the International Brotherhood of Magicians, the Magic Collectors Association, Magic Castle and the Magic Circle (A.I.M.C.), served as the President of the Magic Dealers Association (1973-1975).
We don't know if Hank was interested in the type of Magik Aleister Crowley gravitated towards.
Now Buddy's mother Vera "Moorehouse" Cunningham is also interesting. Vera taught acting to inmates at the Statesville Correctional Institution in Joliet IL that boasted serial killers Richard Speck, and magician/clown John Wayne Gacy along with the Chicago Rippers.
Here is a picture of Vera seated next to actor James Earl Jones after they produced a performance Gabriel's Fire at the prison.
