This post is about the murder of Elizabeth Short and how I believe it has many details which are similar to other cases which are discussed here. Whether or not this case belongs in the same folder or the same investigation is better left to someone more qualified than myself to determine. I am merely passing along information which I believe has merit - specifically with this idea of this case relating to a Phoenix Program style campaign of terror used to influence the social fabric in America, frequently involving gruesome crimes and misinformation perpetrated by undercovers or compromised journalists.
In 'Short'
* One of the first major stories after WW2. Murder occurs on 1/14/1947
* Calculated and procedural, possibly occult murder. There are photos, they got out. Look it up if you want
* Sensationalized story promoted continuously by publications of William Randolph Hearst
* Evidence of cover-up involving the notoriously corrupt LAPD of the 40s
* Extensive evidence and ledes which tie to Hollywood circles including big names
I.e., the type of names who may have been involved in intelligence circles
I recently read a book called Childhood Shadows: The Hidden Story of the Black Dahlia Murder by Mary Pacios. She was a childhood friend of Elizabeth Short - Short was an older sister figure to her that helped her through a traumatic time. Pacios traveled extensively to the LA area and around the rest of the country over a period of decades interviewing people and obtaining records - I enjoyed the book and found it worth a buy. I initially found out about the subject through this Ed Opperman interview on the topic.
So her big discovery, if you've made it this far and are still interested, is that a huge amount of circumstantial evidence points towards none other than Orson Welles. I'll go over some of the evidence shortly, but first I'd like to establish why Orson Welles in particular is a fascinating person to finger for this. Orson Welles has some pretty impressive lineage somewhere in his past - he's essentially American royalty. He's related to John Quincy Adams and I believe a famous Civil War figure as well though I am too lazy to confirm at the moment. Welles was also a musical prodigy at young age and lost both of his parents very early.
I have also had a background fascination with Welles art and him as an artist for many years. I highly recommend "F for Fake" - his last film. Just to go over SOME of the connections I have discovered through Welles - I found footage of Welles himself where he spoke about being at fancy dinners with the likes of Winston Churchill. He helped with many speeches for many politicians including FDR - he even considered a run for the Presidency himself for a while, before deciding against it because of his history of divorce - what a time in America. He was married to Rita Hayworth and dated Judy Garland. At the request of Nelson Rockefeller, Orson Welles went to South America to film a propaganda film for the US government in the early 1940s. I haven't even checked his biographies, of which there are many - I'm sure there's tons out there I'm unaware of.
Welles was also famously involved in a public battle against William Randolph Hearst over Citizen Kane and as I mentioned above, Hearst owned the vast majority of the newspapers which created the Black Dahlia myth and ran with it for over a year.
I believe even without the Orson Welles thread the case is still of interest with the idea of this campaign of terror against America in mind. However, I will make the case for Welles involvement soon.
But for now I am super tired for now and must sleep. Tomorrow I will either update this post if I can edit or just add another post with the evidence that points to Welles - there's lots and I will go into case details etc and give links and pictures. I find it very credible but I do tend to differ in opinion slightly from the conclusion Mary Pacios came to in her book. I am willing to bet some of the intrepid investigators here will be able to help - who knows, might be total bunk - in any case I look forward to learning from the process. I mentioned doing this write up in chat on stream months ago - finally getting around to it, feels nice.
Thanks for reading and best wishes,
Nat
