Smithy:
Coincidence? After 43 years of keeping Ray and Dennis Land secret as suspects, the FBI releases their pages two months after I point them out? Coincidence?
And I do not understand your "confusion" about who wrote the handwritten report with Snook's signature on it.

Mr H., coincidence, yes. Quite a number of people are pushing - and have been - for material on this "case" for a long time. I even filed a request for information myself, way back. Ha! (They asked me for a copy of my California Driver's License, btw.) Now, do I think it's possible you're the cause and that's the effect, yes, but could that also be a coincidence? Something else happened somewhere in the world? Ah yes, possibly. Please, don't take that personally! Stuff does happen.
Re: My confusion? Well, it's a poor choice of word. I was trying to say:
There's only one (photo of a) report in the public domain with handwriting on "which looks just like the Zodiac's". There's only one (photo of a) piece of paper in the public domain "with Hal Snooks signature" on it. Those are one and the same piece of paper.
So we poor souls who have had no access to any other material cannot confirm for ourselves what Hal's signature looks like or what his handwriting looks like. We can't confirm, then, that he a) wrote that report or b) signed it.
I've said this before, lots of times.
We don't talk about the labels on the plastic (clothesline?) stuff in bags, used at Berryessa. His? Perhaps we should. We haven't talked about "his" 4-page typed report either. (Say, who spells "photographes" like that, huh? And "writting" on the vehicle door? Ha! You're kidding me, right? Say - do you suppose someone else typed that report for Hal? But I digress.....)
I'm not confused about that SIGNED report really, nope. Am I sceptical? Just a little bit, yes. That's the word I should have used for my attitude. Healthily sceptical. Are other people sceptical, yes, it seems so. Are other people confused? Well so it would seem. Are members of LE confused about who actually did write the report? Well I think you've already commented on that haven't you? (Maybe you haven't. Maybe I misunderstood what you were getting at, a little earlier. M'excuse.)
You didn't comment further on the "Break in MO". A pity.
Here's one for you: Why were they called "Wing Walkers", that style of shoe sole? What's the single characteristic that they display which meant the photos of the sole print and the boot were important, or at least thought important by the people who published that little composite. Eh?

Well. They seemed to have been called Wing Walkers 'cos you were supposed to be able to wander around on expensive aeroplanes without causing too much damage to them. The planes, not the boots. Maybe. And the soles were designed to not pick up material which would lead to FOD - foreign object damages - through subsequent ingestion into aeroplane engines. It seems. I suspect that profile of the heel was aupposed to help, there. It's low, not seperate. If you look at the profile of them they look kind of (orthotic?) orthopaedic, don't they? Which made the forensic examination and identification quite easy. What a stroke of luck!
I wonder if anyone involved in the case at Berryessa would have been able to noticed that one of their colleagues had recently been wearing shoes with soles that looked like that? I suppose some Doc Martens look to have a similar sole, in truth. And if they're as pervasive as you said, perhaps not. If you were right.

Smithy: Why do you pretend like you are on the other side of the Atlantic? Well, Captain, it's one of the following: 1) I can't spell real well. I like to discise the fact by pretending to be forren. Pretending to be from the UK is easyist 'coz over there they speak 'Merican just like here at home in the good old U S of A. I'm from North Carolina. 2) I pretend to be across the water 'cos I'm the Zodiac Killer (who really really existed) and I'm trying to pretend I'm no longer in 'Merica to avoid capture, while using this common name to taunt my persewers who are closing in on each and every web site. D%$! them!!! (My current score is 4,012 and I'm still experimenting. Next week I'm going to kill a man with can of Coors Lite. Or a long neck Bud. I haven't decided yet.) 3) I'm not pretending. I really am British, scouts honour, and I'm just off for a cup of tea with my dear old Dutch. And you're a bit of a numpty.

Captain - yes, it's #3. Why would I lie about it? To add glamour? I'm intrigued. Meantime - it's nice you and I have our very own notice board here now Mr Horan's gone. I think we should open a few extra threads about "Dancing With the Stars" and Ebola and maybe the Republican party. Think so?

I thought he would have deleted my post because it was off-topic. Well, back to my experiment with mercury vapors.

Naaa, I'm Smithy. It seems Mr H. hasn't been around much of late - but he's never been one for deleting posts, anyway. He may be over here reading this stuff: crack-proof.com/zodiac-killer/spelling/ And wondering if Hal Snook knew Gregg Shorthand. I know I am. (Gregg is not another Scottish comedian I've never heard of, btw.)

I've been in hospital, and since have been recovering from a serious illness and serious operation. (I'm recovering quite well.) I've also been busy with radio interviews.
This ENTIRE THREAD will be deleted in due time. For now, there's nothing horribly deletable about it. By all means, get to know each other, y'all.

Damnit Mr H., the one thing I'd not considered was your falling ill. (So much for detective skills.) Get well soon - I hope you get the chance to think about Gregg and JJ Harris while you're laid up so you can opine on some of this stuff.
