In 1972, Baron Muller— not Paul Avery or Keith Power—wrote a follow-up piece on the "Zodiac Killer" for the Chronicle. For some inexplicable reason, she claimed that the second and third pieces of Stine's shirt were enclosed in the Melvin Belli letter. Since the Chronicle staff and Belli's staff are the only witnesses who could testify in court as to whether any Zodiac letters contained pieces of Stine's shirt, Muller's story destroyed the credibility of both sets of witnesses.
