A close examination of the full-color, hi-resolution scans and photos of the "Zodiac" letters reveals that one person wrote the first three letters, a second person wrote most of the subsequent letters, and a third person wrote the cryptograms, the Melvin Belli letter, and perhaps other letters.

I wonder if maybe there is another reason the handwriting changes on the letters. Maybe maybe MAYBE, they actually are the same person, but the hoaxer found out that his handwriting was on a police report that was sent to the California Department of Justice, and someone was needed to be present at the Chronicle when they arrived to "confirm" them as Zodiac letters.

Well, what good would that do? The letters that actually confess to actual murders have his handprinting. So, writing more letters (that don't contain ANY details about ANY real crimes) in an altered handprinting aren't going to help him.
No, I think Graysmith's "theory" about "someone" tracing [Snook's] handprinting using precisely the same technique and equipment that Graysmith used every single day of his career is exactly what happened. Except, he forgot to copy the STROKES, as well as the shapes of the letters.
It's possible, of course, that Snook continued to write SOME letters, but hi-res color scans are only publicly available for a few letters. So it's hard to say.
