Today marks the 40th anniversary of this horrendous crime. I know Sue, Johnny, Tina, Dana, the Sharp family and Wingate family are in all our thoughts often, especially today. Hopeful 2021 will be the year the case will be officially solved. Here is a newish article from medium.com. It has some nice pictures of Sue, Johnny, Tina, and Dana. The same photos of we have all seen before, but spruced up a little. medium.com/the-mystery-box/unsolved-mysteries-the-murder-and-corruption-of-keddie-cabin-a4b4f9edb7c3

All in all I liked it. What did you think?
I know there were some errors in the article but they did a good job covering a lot of different topics. I appreciated the fact they questioned things and pointed out other leads, suspects, possible motives, etc that LE were dealing with. It's a good article for people just learning of the case, as it shows there are a lot of possibilities and unanswered questions.
And I think a couple statements they made sum up how a lot of people feel, including us. Here are a couple that really resonated with me:

I agree with your thoughts, it was a fairly balanced article. A few sentences made me shake my head “ a lack of finger prints suggest the killers mostly wore gloves”... um, yeah... maybe... but it also suggests another real possibility that either eluded the author or he didn’t want to ‘go there’.
Question to anyone: Who exactly, and I mean a person or agency who has the literal legal capacity and ability to declare this case solved or “unofficially” solved ... name of governmental official or agency?

Thank you for posting this, Hope. I’ll look forward to part 2. It’s my understanding that a Grand Jury does not decide/proves whether a defendant is guilty or innocent. A Grand Jury looks at the evidence/ witnesses and decides whether or not there is enough merit to indite (charge) the individual with the crime they are being accused of, paving the way for a trial. Although, I appreciate the reporters enthusiasm - Marty and Bo are deceased, there is almost zero chance a DA will convene a Grand Jury. The time to do that, if there was evidence has long passed.

You are correct raemen, but I've known laywers to put on mock grand jury trials to see if a case is worth pursuing or as a dry run for defense to see if they need to amend anything first. I was assuming that's what was happening? Because WTH would a prosecutor bother with 2 defendants who can't be tried? And will these people be working with additional evidence we aren't privy to? ??

In the pt 2 documentary, former undersheriff Mareina made it clear that this case has been been brought to the DA but there has never been enough evidence to prosecute those they felt were involved (he made no mention of any dead men).
It's always been my understanding that LE just investigates cases and brings the evidence to the DA - but it's the DA that says if it goes to a grand jury or not. So was it corrupt LE keeping this case from being prosecuted or the DA? Or maybe too many "rabbit holes" and not enough evidence?

So you can not arrest 2 dead men, you can’t hold a preliminary trial with 2 dead men, you can’t prosecute 2 dead men, our court system has no jurisdiction over dead people. A Grand Jury is conducted with secrecy and only the prosecution presents its case... no evidence that could exonerate the defendant will be presented before the Grand Jury. I don’t see the State wasting tax payer dollars over this... as important as this case is to the online community it’s not the kind of case that justifies wasting a whole lot of resources... for zero chance of prosecution. Look at the Jon Benet Ramsey case, a few years ago it came to light that the Grand Jury did indite the Ramseys ... the DA refused to sign off on the indictment because he felt they didn’t have enough evidence to score a conviction. The only way this case will be solved is with a verifiable confession or new DNA evidence.

kmik - at the moment and with what we know, there isn’t one single piece of forensic evidence that points to ANY ONE being in that cabin that can not be accounted for. IMO - that’s a huge problem for prosecution no matter how many twisted motives have been proposed.

Absolutely!!!! I’m just sick of hearing this case wasn’t solved because of LE. As you’ve said its not solved due to lack of evidence and No explanation for the DNA that is there.
Karis always says that “the kids were forced to get their hands dirty” theory is straight out of Helter Skelter.
