Sometimes it takes a while to see the big picture but I now question how close Glenna and Sue really were. It's all about extracting the tiny bit of truth from the lies that have been told and the Meeks told so much during and after the documentaries that don't seem to be consistent with what was told in 1981.
Dmac recently posted that Richard said they didn't become friends with the Sharps until they moved to Keddie yet there's many statements from people who lived in Clairmont at the same time the Sharps did who tell of seeing Richard, Walter, and Dana at Sue's house. I think that may just actually be the truth. In a snippet from Glenna's 4-21-81 interview she said she was a close friend of Sue (not her best friend). Most of what we've read from the files we have always refer to the Meeks and Sharp children being so close - I don't think I've read of any outsider saying Sue and Glenna were best friends and quite frankly I think that best friends "illusion" blossomed after the documentaries - remember how she stammered around, while speaking at the headstone memorial, of her and Sue being best..... and never finishing and we couldn't understand. Glenna said in her old post, while proclaiming their great friendship, that she met Sue through the kids so she probably knew Sue to be the Sharp kids mom, but didn't become friends until Sheila got pregnant or through FRC. Now the reason Marilyn didn't point this out on the forums was because she had only known Glenna for about 2 months so she wouldn't have had a clue how long they had been friends.
Even if she and Sue were only friends for 5 months they could have still hung out at the Meeks house or even took a couple of camping trips. I know our info says that Johnny stayed with the Meeks when Sue went to Oregon - but no mention of Ricky and Greg staying also. In 81 she told the police that Sue had dated a guy the year before but didn't even know his name - and she probably didn't know it because she wasn't hanging with Sue at the time. She also said in her old post she didn't remember Sue working yet we now know that she worked at the Elks club. It's clear Sue was not outgoing yet Glenna was participating in community plays and was even in a single women's club the year Sue died.
When these people were saying Sue wasn't home with her kids it wasn't because she was hanging out on the front porch with Glenna. The kids were probably hanging out all the time at each others house but not their mothers - hence the opportunity for Sheila to be with Dana or Richard at her own house when no adult was home.
I believe Glenna said she spoke at the 1981 memorial for Sue - but Glenna and Richard liked attention anyway and she did know her and according to what I've seen was actually probably the only friend Sue did have - but that doesn't mean they were bosom buddies, I believe Sue went by her house on Saturday morning to get Johnny but he wasn't there - and Sheila went over to Alice Thompson's possibly because her mom had said don't be back around LaRhonda because of the Joe Baze thing.
And this could all be the reason Glenna wasn't rushing over to 28 that morning instead of 26. Wow after all these years of her proclaiming to be Sue's bestie yet we now find out she didn't even make the list - but I FULLY believe that was because Sheila was relying on the Meeks to help her make that list. Don't you know when LE got that list they were thinking, "Glenna Meeks spoke at the memorial but didn't even make the list". But then again why did she speak? Was it because of Johnny or Sue or even Tina (who she claimed didn't run with the "big pack" - yet she did according to others but nobody was watching any of them enough to know). So sad
