(14:53-15:52) Gets very uncomfortable, lowers his eyes after "Mr. D" is mentioned
Anyone know who "Mr. D" was?
Maury mentions in the interview that "Mr. D" was supposedly the only one of the cult-related members to die from natural causes up until that point of the interview (1999)
We know that "Mr. H" was initially thought to have died from natural causes in 1996, but I believe that was later changed to a homicide.

I've been wondering about the identity of Mr. D myself! No clue so far, but I'll keep digging. I'm attempting to contact someone on the periphery of the Sam case; my hopes aren't high that this person is willing to talk, but if I do manage to gather any new info I'll definitely share it.

Thanks Jon, looking forward to any info uncovered!
BTW, do you happen to be "THE" Jon helping the Professor on the podcasts?

You're welcome. Maybe I'll get some sort of response this week.
I'm the same Jon, yeah. Still doing newspaper research and finding odd little bits and pieces indicating that the Yonkers cult existed, in some form, as early as the 1920's. It's an incomplete picture, but a bizarrely fascinating one!

Tremendous job on both the podcasts and that Yonkers Kindle book you put together! Definitely a required reading companion to "The Ultimate Evil"!

Jon. Have you read anything about the network of Yonkers doctors that were supposedly linked to this cult? I remember when I first see the SOS web brain page a couple years ago there was a doctor I was researching, but forgot his name. He had a business in Yonkers on the 400 block of Broadway. His son later took over the building and is a doctor now possibly. Anyways I remember a little about how I was starting to find old newspaper articles about him how he worked at the insane asylum in Staten Island where the Cropsey guy (forgot his name) worked as an orderly, at different times though. I had a lot of research on my computer until it crashed and I lost everything. I had a NY times article about how a YMCA program was boating children back and forth from a Yacht at the Riverside Yacht club. The tiny boat sank and authorities were called in to rescue all the children. That seemed kinda odd to me, maybe it was a harmless program. I know I would never let my children do that, especially if I'm not there.

I remember when I first see the SOS web brain page a couple years ago Is this "Brain" page functional any longer?
One used to be able to access it without any sign-on and I heard even a sign-on doesn't grant access (I haven't tried setting up a sign-on)
The rumor was that maybe Maury's nephew was the source behind it, but never confirmed.

Thanks, Omega! I appreciate it. Hopefully there will be an expanded version of the booklet someday.

Yes, I found some indications that this network of doctors (and other prominent citizens) existed and that strange things were happening in Yonkers for decades. (Even the German Shepherd thing appears to date as far back as 1925.) I don't think I've run across the name of the doctor you mentioned, but I'd like to hear more about him.

I recall there was a doctor listed on that "Brain" site who I think his last name began with a "G" (I can't recall the name though)
I believe he also had ties to Long Island later on in life (in addition to Yonkers earlier)

(The phone number of that residence is one of the private numbers that was found in Berkowitz's apartment.) His father had been the fire chief in Yonkers for many years.

Also, WELCOME JON!

Thanks, Ace! It's too bad about the SOS Cult site--I haven't been able to access it again, either.

Some more grounds for further research in westchester would be the orphan train movement, pedophilia,Yonkers mayor John Emory Andrus, the Surdna (Andrus spelled backwards) foundation, and "CIA foundations".

I'm fond of quoting Maury Terry with regard to the City of Seven Hills: "Something was happening in Yonkers. Something strange." Truer words were never spoken!
