Oooh, I forgot about Baze. I think he was still married at the time. Sue turned him down, but didn't the boys hang out with him? I thought that was weird

Here is the news article on Dana.
Sept 8, 1977
LOST QUINCY YOUTH LOCATED BY WESTWOOD SEARCH GROUP
A 13 year old Quincy boy was the subject of an intense search by units of the Plumas county search and rescue team, the Plumas co Sheriffs dept., CAHP, Greenville and Westwood community service radio patrols (CSRP) Saturday night.
The boy, Dana Wingate, was located at 2:08 am Sunday morning by Lake McCrosky and Jerry Curl, both members of the Westwood CSRP, within 20 minutes of joining the search southeast of Quincy.
Although Wingate was located at 2:08 am., because of the rugged terrain, he did not arrive at the nearest rescue point until 3:30 am.
Although cold, Wingate was not injured.

You are right so many motives.
Sue was in the process of divorce and dating other men.
Tina had been molested by Daniel French but if you read the report she clearly knew what to do to get the ice cream money even taking the change back to him when she and the other little girl got home (French went along with them for the ice cream then to his house) plus a week later when the police called the Sharp house Tina wasn't there she was once again down the road at the little girls house - seemingly no concern that the guy who supposedly molested her lived in that same trailer park. She was street smart just like Joel Lipsey said and he knew. She may have been shy at school but no doubt people in Keddie knew her. Steve L (one of the top suspects in 1986 and dorm student at the time) claimed she talked to him about some man following Sheila. Why would Tina just out of the blue have a conversation with him about her sister??? Certainly didn't happen while she waited in line at the Keddie Store. William Avery said at 7:00pm on the night of the murders Tina came to his house to pick up Greg who had been playing with his son no mention of anyone walking with her at 7:00pm on a Saturday night in that little cesspool - but she obviously was no stranger to rambling around.
Johnny was out of Sue's control according to Nancy Davis. Uncle Don may have found it hard to tell the truth about him but Nancy didn't. He had a week old black eye at the time of the murders and had ran away from home about a month before the murders - and was free to roam around Quincy all day Saturday into the night - and had probably been roaming since the night before when he stayed at the Meeks house. There was just no supervision
Dana was troubled and living in the receiving home. Don and Pat Dorris seem to have been good honest people but they had kids of their own while taking in troubled kids and the FRB had a couple of articles about the neighbors complaining the kids were not being watched carefully. These kids were coming and going there just like they were at their own troubled homes. Dana, according to his own father, was about to be moved to a more "secure" home. He just seemed to have few boundaries, just like Johnny and Tina. Not to mention that a girl in Quincy had a baby by him a short time before the murder (not sure if he knew it or saw the child).
They had problems that made for good motives but I don't believe 4 different people came into the cabin and killed them individually. And I don't believe 3-6 people were in the cabin or even in Keddie watching out or involved in the murders. These people, like myself, were not that important. I respectfully disagree with you on any of this as motives. These are more like circumstances leading to them being murdered. I'll explain: Basically these people were out and about and getting in trouble in minor ways which places them more at risk for being in the wrong place and the wrong time. Like, imagine what would have happened to Dana that evening, had he been tucked into his own bed, reading a book ... And how would the incident have played out, had Sue spent the evening with her kids watching PBS and baking cookies, locked the doors and gone to bed at a decent hour? All of the kids at home and in their own beds? I have said on here before, that to me it seems like whoever did this, was primarily after Tina. Someone from just outside the community is driving around and spots Tina looking neglected and vulnerable and cases her situation. Figures out where she lives etc. Unaware that she has 4 other siblings. His buddy is after the mom. They probably plan a rape and an abduction or a rape of both but it goes South. And the teen boys walk in. That is my general theory. Had Sue and her kids paid attention more and led a lower risk lifestyle none of this would have happened. Lester the Molester would have had to take it elsewhere.

I'd like to digress and deconstruct here. Alot of hard work and some great investigating has led to the conclusion "everybody did it for all the reasons"? That's not a great working theory. Its both convoluted and surprisingly lazy.

Marde: 1) First I heard, he was upset with sue for meddling in his marriage, supporting Marilynn in an abusive relationship. I don't even recall where this came from. I read and listened to maralynn throw marde under the bus, but for the life of me don't recall her speaking on this. In fact, unlike Glenna, I don't recall her claiming to be particularly close to sue. If anyone, I think Marilynn probably knew Tina best. 2) Marde was upset with Sue for not hooking up with Bo so he slaughtered her family, well some of them. 3) Marde was upset with Sue because he was sleeping with her and was jealous. Of who? Obviously not Bo 4) Marde killed four people because he didn't like Johnny or any teenagers. 5) Marde killed four people because he was abusing Tina and had possibly knocked her up. Weird because Tina voluntarily visited his own house. if Tina was the target of this emotional rage of a professional hit, They/he picked the most inopportune time to take a single target.

Bo: 1) As a professional hit man, sloppily killed for people because Sue didn't want to go out. 2) Sloppily killed four people because Marde had such good reasons

Mix and Match Meeks. 1) upset that Sheila's baby was put up for adoption, killed (prolongingly) 3 kids (who were uninvolved) in order to get to Sue. Because? Anger? sure maybe. The adoption was legal and final, there was no unringing that bell. 2) Tina, one of the boys was messing with Tina. Add another pregnancy rumor. 3) Dana....at one point he was worried he could be the father of Sheila's baby. Jealousy between teen boys? They both must have slept with Sheila around the same time. Was Sue aware? Would she have let Dana spend the night in the same house if she had?....Is that why Sheila's plans changed?

Drugs/Money Still one of my "favorite" theories. Even a small amount needs to be dealt with. Getting ripped off IS a big deal. Losing a stash to a couple of small teenage boys costs 1) Respect. Allowing teenagers to rip you off with impunity does not a good business make. 2) $$$$$$. One of the oldest, most persuasive of motives. 3) Life. Many dealers buy through fronting. If you just lost a bunch of drugs you haven't paid for yet....recouping with interest becomes a priority
