And I'll say it again--there is no need to look for ANY hammer, let alone Marty's. The hammer that was used on the victims was STILL IN CABIN 28. On the little table next to the butcher knife that was used on Sue. So the boys "borrowed" Marty's hammer (if that even is Marty's) and lost it. So what? It wasn't used on the victims.

I think it’s been speculated (not by any one that would matter) that 2 hammers were used.

I believe that the reason people think there were two hammers used is because on Dana (and I think Johnny but I could be wrong, I’m just going off of memory here) a few of the marks were different sizes, which could mean two different sized hammers.
I could be totally wrong, but on dmacs forum (yes I’ve been reading it but not registered) he has some of the pst forums archived and that was discussed on there.
Does it mean there were two hammers used? Maybe. Maybe not. I’m no expert.
BUT
If there were two hammers used, emphasis on if, the only reason I could see Marty or whoever did this only taking the one hammer out of the cabin was because it was his, and maybe including this supposed BB gun. The only two(?) possible weapons that they don’t know if they belonged to the family or not are missing. Everything else in the house that was used on them was left behind because there’s no reason in their mind to take it if it came from the house.
Just speculating lol

I believe i read (an early report?) " a hammer was used on Johnny and a claw hammer was used on Dana." At one point there was talk of Dana's throat being ripped by a claw hammer, but I didn't see anything in the autopsy notes to support this. The hammer left was a claw hammer, and so was the "discovered" hammer. I wonder why the distinction? When I hear hammer I don't picture a ballpeen

Today is the 39th anniversary of the murders and apparently no closer to solving this case than they were 4 years ago. So sad!!

Yes, Indeed! I remembered too! Still hoping for the Truth to come out also. Further, I wish the victims and family survivors Peace and all the best.
