Hi, I know in the podcast you mentioned the Paynes may be involved but I wonder more of the Oldfields. Matthew was the last to check on the kids and admitted he just 'listened for sounds' by the door. Sounds pretty fishy to me. Maybe he was listening for the intruder.

Nah. There is zero reason to think that ANYONE lied to police--except Gerald McCann. Everyone just assumes that the McCanns' friends aaaaallllll got together and lied to cover up some unspecified crime, because they assume that the statements given to police by the "Tapas 7" somehow make Gerald McCann look "less" guilty. In reality, EVERYONE'S statements make Gerald look super-duper guilty. That includes Kate, who obviously was totally bewildered by what had happened.
Gerald's accomplices ALL snuck out of the country--literally--without EVER giving statements to Portuguese police. Not to this day has the British government allowed the PJ to question those four people.
Now, the Daily Mail has published articles/interviews that often contradict some people's statements to police, but the Mail's journalistic credibility is terrible.
