My guess would be he was obnoxiously drunk and sues basement, not having good house access, was the best place for him. It seems sue may have had experience dealing with bad drunks. I actually do believe marde did care for his step sons, and I wouldn't want my kids close to that. Maybe philip had a bad mood swing. And the philip-meeks relationship revelation has had us all in a tizzy for quite some time now. Its not as though they didn't notice his name popping up in threads that they themselves posted to!

So true and since Sue knew the Meeks so well she had to have known Phillip was a cousin. It seems to me that the story Phillip told the police was pieces of Marty picking him up in January and 9probably because the Meeks were naming Marty as the killer) he pieced this story together. However, JUST SPECULATING, what if Phillip did run into someone at the Exxon in a 54-57 Chevy (someone like Steve H)?Who knows but it would seem more logical that whoever committed these murders were in a panic after (according to Alvey 3 years later he was) they would have left the area (he did) and would have had knowledge of Camp 18 (not sure about that but his sister went missing from Quincy and was found at Strawberry hill - Tina went missing from Keddie and was found fairly near at Camp 18). If he wasn't involved maybe he was with someone that was?
All of this is speculation because none of us know what happened but we like to go down the list of possibilities.
And you are right Sheila and Alyssa could have been sneaking out that night because apparently the killer(s) were in and out the front and back door and the porch light was seen, by Kathy Bosco, on around 4:00am so that bulb was not unscrewed by the killer(s).

Thanks guys. That makes sense about the Philip sleepover. Can see it playing out that way. Good point about the porch light. And please keep throwing those thoughts & speculatios out there I agree 100% the behavior of SH is more in line with what you would expect from someone who just committed such a heinous act. You are right, no one what happened and it possible philip ran into someone night. Not going to lie, I still find the entire Tina aspect important. I personally do not believe she was taken to throw the scent off. This was the early 1980s, the general public did not have the same knowledge we do today of investigative techniques, evidence collection, DNA, etc. MMB were not criminal masterminds. Sadly, Tina could have been taken by some sick individual who had other plans or by someone she knows trying to "save" her, as noted in Douglas's profile. I find it interesting we have 3 professionals coming to the same conclusion independently of one another (John Douglas, Rich Kelly & now Paul Holes). In Marty's confession to his therapist he claims he killed her the same as the others, with the hammer. There was no evidence of this during her autopsy. Then there is the boot print at the scene. I keep returning to it ever since Professor Horan pointed it out. I've read elsewhere that the boot prints are just a rumor, that the only footprints found at the scene were Sue's barefoot prints. However, I can clearly see those boot prints on the cushion and to me they look very similar to the soles of Tina's "Gass" shoes. I know you guys have probably discussed all this multiple times and I hope you dont mind me bouncing my thoughts off of you. I have followed this case for many years but never had the courage to join in the discussions. I truly appreciate being able to openly discuss things here!

Same hear, and glad you decided to participate! I've been beating the philip dead horse for awhile and finally this! Might not be much, but his sleep over was so off fitting to me that having an explanation that makes sense is very satisfying!

Just going back over some recent info. At the beginning of this thread we discussed Marty's interview and how many have come to believe that Marty admitted being in 28 Saturday night when he said that "Justin may have noticed him without him detecting him". This is the question he was asked by Bradley:
Bradley: Was he in a... did you observe him in a position the following morning, over around the Seabolts, where, if the deputies had left the door opened for a moment or two, that he could have looked in there and seen the female From Keddie28 FB Page:
The question was to see if Marty ever observed Justin in a position on Sunday morning to see inside of 28 when the door was left open for a moment or two by LE.

This was the discussion leading up to that question:
This interview with Marty was on the 14th, two days after the murders but Marty had heard enough from Justin (even though Justin was at the Meeks) to question how he could know so much about the crime scene when he claimed to have been asleep.
