Thanks for the question, funny feeling.
It's a difficult question to answer, obviously. Part of the problem is the limited knowledge about certain events and/or details from the crime scene.
I do wholeheartedly believe that it had something to do with the boys. Of course, I'm basing this off of interviews and the PCSO timeline and other details that have been confirmed by law enforcement--but that's really all we have. I think they had gotten into some trouble--perhaps drug related. From the information in the timeline, I think Tina was taken as a last-minute, spur-of-the-moment thing. I believe she was killed soon after. Some people have heard that the police proved she remained alive for six months, but this is not true based on the people I have interviewed.
I do believe Marty and/or Bo had/have direct knowledge of who committed the crimes. I do not believe Marty actually murdered the victims, though I believe he might have been in the cabin at some point that night. Again, when we made the movie, it was "Marty and Bo" everywhere you looked. People either named them specifically, or they would allude to Marty, referencing Oregon, the knife fight, Justin, and so on. If the movie was made now, I think it would have turned out a bit differently.
I don't really think Sue's actions or acquaintances had anything to do with it. There is virtually nothing that points to that in all the interviews we have conducted.
I think Justin saw a lot. He took a blanket out of one of the other bedrooms and placed it on Sue. This is an undisputed fact. He was thirteen-years-old. That is not so young that you just "can't remember." Had the police used a method other than hypnosis, maybe they could have gotten through to him. Now, it is a lost cause. Justin won't talk, and I have my doubts that his book will see the light of day.
Unfortunately, I don't think the PCSO thinks too much about this case. I won't go as far as to say they don't give a damn, but it is clearly not of interest to them to pursue it in any way. Running online searches, checking out serial killers from the past, examining bizarre posts, going to the library for research, looking at similar cases--all of this is well and good, but this case will never be solved without the dedication of the PCSO or maybe the DA. As I have said before, every contact I make is now 100% ignored (though the people at the DOJ were extremely kind and helpful...unfortunately, they just didn't know anything). But hey, maybe they just don't like me and someone else can have better luck!
I would like to see Rick Sharp come forward, but I really don't think he saw much, if anything. I believe that if he felt like he could help solve the crime, he would; by all accounts he is a good, kind person. Richard Meeks saw the crime scene twice, but has decided not to share what he saw. And if he did, I'm not sure what that would really do, except give us more to talk about.
Marilyn's never coming back, as far as I can tell.
What I would like to see if a collective effort to do something different than what we are doing--but what? For example, I can determine that Silveria was in custody. Meanwhile, Tara can determine that he was not. It doesn't really matter who is right and who is wrong.
Without someone in law enforcement actively pursuing this case, our conclusions don't amount to much. They make for great online discussion, but they don't contribute to an actual solving of the Keddie Murders.
I've run out of ideas. But I know everyone here really cares about this case and I know some of you have relatives/spouses/friends in law enforcement. What would they recommend people like us do?
Wow, I have rambled. Sorry.
Josh
I just want everyone to understand that in 2008 Josh Hancock said it was an undisputed fact that Justin covered Sue. This is not current info discovered by 28 or given to him by Mike Gamberg. Josh admitted to making a one sided documentary based on what he was being told. We now know that he was being told this by the Meeks. Josh trusted their opinions because Sheila trusted their opinions. In 2011 the PCSO said they had a falling out with the filmmaker's during the final stages of filming the film because they rushed the film out before considering all of the information. Marty's undocumented confession to the therapist holds less water than Henry Thompson's. The truth is Ricky and Justin are probably the only hope this case has of ever being solved.
