I know this topic has been discussed to death, but I came across a new source for the name "Zodiac" (assuming it wasn't meant as a joke) that I had never heard before so I thought I would share it. There might be a couple of connections here:
1) WWII and/or Korean War (note possible use in US special ops)
2) Hal Snook sporting goods store might have sold surplus
3) Boy Scouts using them
Also, trying to lock down Zodiac Nautic as being a manufacturer for dummy props used to form ghost armies.
