I want to give a shout out to Kay whom I believe (after her June 26th post about contacting Victoria Metcalf) is responsible for throwing Dmac into a panicked need to head to Quincy. Good job Kay!!
I would like to first say that I do not know ANYONE related to ANYONE in this case. Marty Smartt was not a relative or family friend of mine so I could care less if it is proven he was the murderer - but I do care about PROOF and not just throwing a bandaid over this case.
This is from Keddie28 FB Page:
July 7- very busy day: up at 8 and forced myself go back to sleep until noon. First thing, I spoke with Jack Brown who was the bartender and lease holder at the Back Door bar. Lots of info: he complained that PCSO never spoke to about the case, but that Crim and Bradley did... over a week after the murders! By that time he'd forgotten most of the details and they didn't ask him many questions. He said today I asked him for more questions than Crimley did 40 yrs ago. I replied that crime and Bradley had spoken more about him during the interviews with Bo and Marty then they did speaking to him in person
He didn't know Bo, didn't know Marylin by name, and barely recognized Marty on sight. He said there was no change of music that night, definitely no argument with Marty, and definitely no phone call to or from Marty. First off, he didn't have Marty's phone number. Secondly, if Marty had gotten into any argument over music or anything else, he would have kicked his ass out of there permanently. He would never call him because he couldn't have cared less about that ass.
First thing is if Jack had forgotten most of the details of the night of 4-11-81 a week after the murders then I'd be very skeptical about him remembering them now. The only thing I see in the files, besides the PON list, on Jack Brown are that he was contacted May 4- 1981 after the Phillip Story.
From the PON list:
BROWN, JACK
Wayne Scott Goudy gave notice before quitting job at bar
<BRUBAKER>
From Marty's interview:
