Why are we able to view some files and not others? I think Josh explains this well in a 2013 youtube interview with a psychic:
In terms of hard evidence, tangent, concrete evidence we were never able to look at any of that just a file we got to photograph but a lot of people who claimed to know say the evidence is gone anyway now just only maybe a few bits and pieces left at this point.
So they were never able to look at any real "evidence" just a file to photograph (probably the Stoy Evidence Report). Who were the people saying the evidence was gone? Probably the same people who said the Butte tape was missing. I seem to remember Mike Gamberg digging that, and the Lover Letter, up within days of hearing that ID Discovery was possibly going to do a show on the murders. I guess it's all just according to how hard you're looking and what motivates you.
I do remember the 2018 article stating that they still had evidence. As usual they like to bring up the story of the old evidence freezer that got unplugged but I bet the bloody cabinet door from the bathroom wasn't in that freezer anyway.
