Snoho:
As McNarie himself proved (he actually went there) Phillip could NOT have been describing Cabin 28. But Phillip described Tom Schulz's cabin (neighbor across the back yard) very well. And here's what's so funny about that--According to the autopsy reports and crime scene photos, Dana was most likely killed an hour or two BEFORE Johnny, and SOMEWHERE ELSE. Chuck and Henry admitted they were at Tom S's cabin in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Suppose Johnny and Dana DID steal some "blotter acid" from some Hells Angels and took it to Chuck and Henry at the Exxon station just before Sue picked them up and Chuck and Henry drove to Livermore and traded the acid for some coke and drove back to Quincy and picked up Johnny and Dana and Phillip at the Exxon about 9:15-9:30 and drove to Tom S's house for a "party" or whatever. Suppose Johnny or whoever suspected Dana of being a "narc" (he very likely was, as a condition of his probation, as part of Gamberg's plan to get his job back). Maybe a roll of white tape fell out of his pocket. "What, are you wearing a wire?" His pants were undone, but there had been no sexual assault. The ME even checked for tape residue, as though HE thought Dana had been wearing a wire. And THAT's where you wear one...
Maybe he was; maybe he wasn't. Maybe he was just out of control from insulin shock, or whatever. But somebody punched him in the face a couple of times before he was strangled. Johnny's hands were bruised. And police found what looked like "bloody nose" tissues in the trash can at the resort entrance--dumped there on the way IN to Keddie, or on the way OUT--In any case, "somebody" got Dana in a choke hold (Gamberg brags about teaching Johnny and Dana and other boys various martial arts skills) and wouldn't let go. Maybe that was Johnny. For whatever reason, "somebody" hit Johnny upside the head just above the left ear and fractured his skull. But it was too late--Dana was dead. Or, maybe Dana had died and nobody noticed for a while. That can happen, even if the choke hold is released--the person's arteries cramp shut and they die, anyway. So maybe Johnny got upset THEN and somebody coldcocked him with a bat.
What the hell do Chuck and Henry and Tom do NOW? They can't call an ambulance. If they dump the bodies in the woods, police will go looking for the crime scene....Why not take the boys to Cabin 28 and make it look like the whole thing happened there? It would only take a few minutes, and wouldn't necessarily make a lot of noise. But Sue wakes up and comes out to the living room and sees Dana lying face down in a puddle of Johnny's blood, so they have to do something about HER. And Tina. And they tell Tina "come with us and we won't have to kill Sue/the other boys" and they tell the boys "keep your mouths shut and Tina will be okay." And they take Tina out to the campgrounds near Camp 18 and she runs off later and dies of exposure. When they go back for her, she's gone, and they can't call the police about THAT, can they?
Cuz, not only does this hypothesis (right or wrong) explain EVERYTHING, including Phillip's story, it ALSO explains one more thing--WHERE WAS DANA'S DIABETIC KIT??? Why wasn't it found in Cabin 28? If he was killed in 28, then WHY DID THE KILLERS TAKE IT WITH THEM?
They didn't. They left it at the original crime scene.
No "premeditation." Just a "tie-up game that got out of control."
