Hello First I would like to say thank you for providing folks a place where they can express how they feel, give an opinion or ask questions without being bullied or called names if they dont agree with you. I looked into and read alot and watched every video I could find about this case starting a few years back. This may be slightly off topic. I would like to know WHY alot of people are blaming Marilyn? I understand she made a horrible decision marrying Martin/Marte but I've noticed many people believe she should shoulder the blame for what I believe is a crime committed by Marte and Bo. Im not a Doctor by and any means but I think its pretty obvious Marte was a full blown Narcissist and psychopath and a master manipulater. I think Marilyn honestly doesn't remember alot and trauma will and does aid in memory loss. I HONESTLY don't get why so many think shes guilty in this horrifying crime??

Caught up on the tape, on the dorsal and on the ventral surface of the hands as well as within the palms of both hands are multiple hairs or hair—like structures, generally light tan in color, sometimes somewhat brown in color, and in one instance one of the hair—like structures is whitish in color. Doesnt say how long the hairs are? If they are human or animal? They had a hampster in the cage in the living room who has brownish hair( I could see it in 2 pictures)..hampsters often have brown/white/ black hair

SoCal, Thanks for joining us! Marilyn's involvement is something specifically created by Keddie28. There is absolutely no proof that Marilyn, Marty, or Bo had anything to do with these murders. It's obvious how Marty came to the attention of the police (Marilyn and then Phillip) but no proof whatsoever that were in any way connected to these murders except that Justin spent the night in Cabin 28 that night. And what proof do we have that Marty was a narcissist, psychopath, or master manipulator? All we know is that he was trying to get diagnosed with PTSD. When we remove things told from "memory" 20 plus years later we're really left with a man who was having problems with his wife (a common problem) and wanting some easy money (a common desire among many people). No evidence of any of them being involved - hence why Mike Gamberg can't solve it -nor anyone before him. No conspiracy just no evidence.
We've also discussed the possibility of it being hamster hairs in his hand. What happened to the hamster(s)?

Hi Kmik Youre absolutely right. I've formed my opinion from everything I've read and watched and its just my opinion.I just believe Marte and Bo did it. From everything I've heard I've formed my opinion from " knowing that type of person". He could be completely innocent and I'm very wrong. Don't know why but I have this gut feeling that Marilyn told the truth and I believe several others did as well. Marte and Bo being gone the next day i believe was to get rid of Tina and I believe this all had alot more to do with Tina. I think marte and Bo were out to do harm to Tina. Why was Tina the only one that wasn't killed in that cabin? I think they wanted to nasty things to that young girl and they did but had to kill off her mom and 2 boys to get to the girl. Ive formed an opinion is all and I appreciate being able to express that without getting verbally attacked

Also I believe Martes Dr who said he confessed to him about killing Sue and Tina.I can't think of a single reason that Dr would call the police and report what his patient had told him he had done and come forward and be interviewed to say what Marte had told him and risk his entire career to lie about one of his patients.

Don't worry everybody has an opinion and yours is as good as anyone else's. My thoughts are if Marty wanted Tina he had all morning Saturday to get her (because he knew where her family was).
Marilyn did backtrack and say she didn't believe he committed the murders. She also said that she was trying to get away from Marty so maybe that's why she ever said he could have been involved - and that's what she told the police - that she "thought" he could have been - with nothing to back it up. Maybe she was worried that Justin might end up being a suspect himself (since it was a fact that he was in the cabin).
The therapist never called the PCSO. He told the story to his neighbor (also a counselor) and his neighbor was the one who called the PCSO. We're not even sure that the therapist called the DOJ because he said that they showed up at his office and he had not called them. We have no documented notes from his interview with Marty when Marty made this "confession". For all we know the therapist questioned Marty about the murders in Keddie since he knew Marty lived there. On the documentary the therapist is "recalling" MANY sessions he had with Marty - my problem with that is he is recalling a series of session from memory of something that happened 28 years before. No way his job would have been in jeopardy if he would have camped out at the PCSO in 1981 or shared this info with the Feather River Bulletin because Tina Sharp WAS STILL MISSING! There is little doubt in my mind that the DOJ showed up at his office, listened to his story and interviewed Marty Smartt. Maybe Josh had this interview and chose not to share it?
It's hard for me to buy the Marty theory because there is no evidence and Marty and Bo's are the only 2 interviews we have ever seen. Why is that? Many, many people were interviewed. I'd love to analyze all those as closely as 28 has analyzed Marty and Bo's yet we weren't given that privilege - but neither was 28.
* Marty himself told Crim and Bradley on Tuesday (April 14) that he was in Reno "all day yesterday" (that would be Monday the day after the murders). In a 2006 post Glenna Meeks wrote that the next day Marty came by her house fairly early going to Reno. The next day would have to be "the next day after the murders - just like Marty said.

socal: Welcome!
Keep a few things in mind about this "case." 1. In EVERY high-profile murder, you're going to get crazy people "confessing." 2. Let's suppose for the sake of argument that Martin really did tell his counselor at the VA that he had killed Sue, Johnny, Dana, and Tina. How would we know he was telling the truth, and not just another crazy confessor? Well, IF his "confession" revealed information that only the killer(s) would have known, THEN such a confession might be admissible in court. For example, IF Martin had told his counselor where Tina's body was; IF he had mentioned the air rifle; IF he had mentioned that a "double clove hitch" had been used to tie up Sue; IF he had mentioned that Dana had been CHOKED to death; IF he had mentioned details about the TIMES of death; IF he had mentioned that Sue was killed LAST, and not first, as almost everyone has always assumed... 2. But, he DIDN'T provide any details at all, let alone details that could be corroborated by other evidence. So, there is no way such a "confession," even if he did really say what he supposedly said, would even be grounds for an arrest warrant, let alone admitted at trial. 3. There are four major problems with Martin's "confession:" A. It's third-hand. B. Martin himself. According to the very counselor who supposedly later confirmed the story to investigators, Martin was prone to extravagant fantasies and delusions. C. The "confession," as reported, is actually contradicted by the evidence that is available to us. According Stoy, the ME estimated [Dana's] time of death at around 11:30pm [plus or minus an hour or so] and Martin and Bo have rock-solid alibis for that entire time. 4. The ONLY victim "killed" with a hammer (or other heavy object) was Johnny (although he may have still had a pulse when his throat was stabbed.) Dana, Sue, and Tina were NOT "killed with a hammer." Finally, there is absolutely zero evidence of any kind linking Martin to the murders. Zero.
On the other hand, police did get another "confession" FIRST-hand. Phillip Shearer's ("Chief.") And his "confession" is at least partially corroborated by TWO different pieces of evidence. 1. He said the killers picked up Johnny and Dana in a dark colored 1950s Chevrolet pickup--and one very good suspect DID own a dark-colored 1955 Chevrolet pickup. 2. Phillip mentioned that a pair of scissors was used to stab some of the victims in the throat--and according to the autopsy reports, a narrow, non-serrated blade WAS used on Johnny and Sue (a second blade, a wider one matching the bloody butcher knife, was also used on Sue.) Now, there are problems with Phillip's confession, also, but not as many as with Martin's supposed "confession."
See the difference?

If Phillip was drunk during the murders then maybe he carved the license plate number of the car into something other than the hot water heater, maybe something like a metal brace under the cabin or a joint, something like that. To bad the structure isn't still around to check.

Curious: Heeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the thing about Phillip saying he hid in the crawlspace of Cabin 28--he couldn't have. He could, however, have hidden in the crawlspace of another cabin...

Curious: Heeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the thing about Phillip saying he hid in the crawlspace of Cabin 28--he couldn't have. He could, however, have hidden in the crawlspace of another cabin... I've often thought the same thing, we know some of what was looked at and documented in 28, but definitely not all. We know mardes house was searched (with permission) but how well? What about the empty cabin? I'm sure they looked for TINA in there, but did they look for evidence?

My thoughts are they searched Cabin 26 on April 15, 1981 (3 days after the murders) for evidence because of the ever changing stories of Justin. The second search was probably because of the therapist and Phillips stories.

Yes she did. If you line up statements made in 1981 the jailhouse exchange between Marty and Wade happened on 4-18-1981. Wade was released on the same day and told the police that Marilyn had said Marty and Bo had gone to the bar and she didn't know what time they got home. Three days later on 4-21-81 the police interviewed Marilyn (probably due to Wade talking to the police on 4-18-81). She told them she felt they were involved because she just had a feeling about it.
On Keddie28 in 2015 Blaine Grubert said himself that basically Marty was not a thought in anyone's mind until about 2 weeks after the murders. He said that even then people considered the source (Marilyn) except for Wade who was biased.
Marilyn and Justin have been unreliable over the years so it's no surprise that people question what they say. She did say on Josh's forum that she didn't think they were guilty and that she was trying to find a way out of her marriage. But she also told Princess in 2011(?) that Justin said he saw Bo standing over Sue.
I just have to look at it like this. We have no idea if Marty or Bo were in 28 that night but we KNOW that Justin was and the police KNOW that Justin was. Their original interest in talking to Marty, Bo, and Marilyn and doing the April 15th search of Cabin26 was because of JUSTIN not Marty because he was there - and Marilyn KNEW that.
We want this case solved. If Marty did it we hope that it's proven. We just see no evidence beyond speculation or stories without documentation. If the PCSO truly knows that Marty is the killer then quit wasting money and stamp this cased solved. But the truth is they have to wonder what we all wonder... why don't the boys tell what they know? 37 years later and it's still like 1981.

I would really like to know what Alyssa Seabolt had to say if anything. It seems she freely? admitted to dating Dana, but her parents didn't even allow her to spend the night right next door. I'm guessing they were unaware and would have not been happy. Have any of her statements ever surfaced?

Her name is listed on the first page of the Shaver report along with all of the people he interviewed that day - but there is no documentation of anything she told them (like there is for everyone else). I would love to know what she, or any of the Seabolts, had to say.
