JMO do you, or anyone else, know anything about the railroad or rail yard there in Keddie at the time of the murders? I know nothing about the railroad and wonder why many of the workers lived there. Did they work 7 days a week (Josephson, Schmid, and Bodenhams seem to have been off for the weekend) or Monday through Friday? Any information would be appreciated.

Hello :-) According to my mom, they worked 6 on with Sundays off. Not sure if that's true of everywhere (don't know about Keddie ). I come from a long line of railroad workers. My grandparents ran the railroad depot in a small p*sstown like Keddie. They, along with my dad, mom, their three children and a few foster kids all lived in the depot. I was born and lived there for around 6 months. Then my grandfather died and the state took away the kids because (at that time) you couldn't be a single parent. (And, grandma was then a widow...being about 30 years younger than my grandfather.) Mom says the train ran by about four feet from our bedroom window and she hated when it blew the horn and woke us up. Interesting stories those railroad men (and women) have. My dad used to come home for his one day off. He slept with the guys in a rr car until he could afford a camper for the back of his truck. I remember not knowing who he was when he came home. It's a hard life. But, everyone keeps everyone's secrets. Guess that's worth something. Hope that helps!

Yes that is interesting and helpful. I love to hear old stories (like the one you posted on Camp 18). I loved reading the old post by Butterfly Valley of days long ago in Keddie. I just never really knew or questioned exactly what the rail yard was or if it was open or closed on the morning of the murders (Sunday). It seems many of the RR workers living in Keddie had the day off.

Sorry, I just saw this thread a few minutes ago. I would have posted here a few days ago instead of creating the new thread titled: 50 yards... (actually, its closer to 75 yards
