Graysmith's FIRST draft was an attempt to frame "Walker," a flamboyant homosexual who (among others) demonstrated to publisher WW Norton how many lawsuits they were asking for. Norton dropped Graysmear, and it took him 5 years to find another publisher. He also had to change his book to frame Allen, instead. When new publisher St Martins Press got sued by a whole bunch of people, they dropped Graysmear themselves.
