I agree with everything you said, 1000%. PCSO were in over their heads. Inexperienced in homicide investigations and the lack of cooperation/conflicting stories from witnesses. The amount of leads chased down in this case is unreal. They were trying. DT did the right thing by calling in assistance from the DOJ and FBI, but this is turned against him as well. There are just so many things things that do not make sense to me. For example, it is claimed PCSO fed John Douglas false information for his profile. It's an absurd claim. PCSO voluntarily reached out to the BSU. If they were covering up these murders there would be no reason to initiate contact. They couldn't just provide him with fake information as much of his assessment is based off of victimology and crime scene photos. I know we all know this this, just venting!
In regards to the corruption I don't believe it myself. I can see some shady things going on but not related to the murders. I do not believe basically every member of PCSO, the DOJ, present day FBI, etc conspired to cover for Marty. Marty obviously was not some big time drug dealer associated with PSCO drug dealings. He & Marilyn were barely getting by.
As far as Gamberg, a lot of the claims he has made to media outlets are used as proof of corruption. But they simply are not true. How many times is it repeated (& said by Gamberg himself multiple times) that he was warned off the case by DT?? If people read newspaper articles they would see this is completely untrue. He was not even employed by PCSO at the time of the murders and wasn't reinstated until long after DT left. He sang the praises of Mike Crim in the documentary but now Crim was a corrupt DOJ agent brought in by DT. Even Gamberg's firing (not once but twice!) is reported differently than what is said in the prevailing theory.
Dmac himself has said Gamberg only worked in the allotted time allowed by the budget. That in itself is unusual. How many times have other cold case investigators gone on record discussing how they put their heart and sole into a case. Spending their free time trying to solve it. Dmac is also constantly, yet nicely and while making excuses, points out the things Gamberg missed in the case files. It literally feels like Gamberg spent his time looking into & backing Dmac's theory instead of conducting his own investigation. You know using evidence? Haha. Instead the case is based on rumors from people called out as liars. Reading the publicized email exchanges between Gamberg and Dmac is freaking bizarre. "Dmac do you think this?". What is going on? Is this the Twilight Zone? Lots more that could be said and all my opinion of course!! (But also backed up by newspaper articles)
Anyway, thanks for joining us and please continue to post! I enjoy reading your thoughts
